- 22/09/2011 - WHEYLAYER DemonstrationThe first demonstration session for the WHEYLAYER project was held in IRIS on September 22nd. It was particularly targeted at the members of the Catalan associations LLET and PIMEC. Attendees from the packaging and machinery sectors acknowledged the interest of the information provided and the invaluable assets of new material. Furthermore, various packaging items and samples based on Wheylayer were exhibited as well as the recycling process at lab scale. The Wheylayer project prototype machine built at IRIS was demonstrated to coat PET films at semi-industrial speed. The consortium thanks the participants for their feedback and interest. |
| - 06/06/2011 - WHEYLAYER IN INTERPACK  2011WHEYLAYER exhibited at the INTERPACK international trade fair for packaging and processes in Dusseldorf, Germany, 12-18 May, 2011. SERVIPLAST, TUBA, FRAUNHOFER and IRIS were all exhibiting, with many of the remaining partners present at the fair to showcase the latest developments in the WHEYLAYER project.  A large number of delegates spoke with members of the consortium throughout the seven day trade fair, with many expressing interest in collaborating with the project and accessing the new bioplastic once it becomes commercially available. Visitors saw the samples of coated plastic, and final packaging items such as blisters and packed food that were displayed in the booth. |
| - 01/05/2011 - MOS- 44th International Trade Show, 7-14 September, 2011  Wheylayer will attend the 44th International Trade Fair (MOS) which is being held in Celje, Slovenia from the 7-14 September, 2011. MOS is the largest economic and business event in Slovenia and will play host to a complete display of small and medium-sized businesses from Slovenia, Europe and the World. | - 01/05/2011 - INTERPACK, Düsseldorf, 12-18 May, 2011  Wheylayer will exhibit at the Interpack 2011, a Processing and Packaging show which will encompass the entire value creation chains of the packaging industry. The show will range from production and refinement of packaging products and packaging materials to packaging and distribution. It will also cover quality assurance and consumer protection. On 11 October 2011, a major demonstration session was celebrated in Ljubljana for over 70 Slovene and International attendees. It was hosted by the Slovenian Plasttechnics Cluster
and the company Lajovic TUBA . After a welcoming word from Mrs. Alenka Avbersek from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, the WHEYLAYER consortium gave an overview of the project, the key developments regarding the WHEYLAYER material and process and the massive reduction of the packaging environmental impact. Prof. Mona Popa concluded with a thorough review of recent innovations in terms of sustainable packaging. Participants finally had the opportunity to attend a practical demonstration of the WHEYLAYER prototype coating machine and samples, as well as to visit the factory of the company Lajovic TUBA to get familiar with tube making. The industry showed a keen interest in getting involved in the supply chain, manufacturing or use of the new WHEYLAYER bioplastic to turn their packaging greener. The consortium would like to direct a warm acknowledgement to all attendees for their valuable feedback and reassess that avenues for future collaboration will be studied.
