| WHEYLAYER M27 Meeting Pisa, Italy, January 27-28, 2011 UNIPI hosted the M27 Technical Meeting during which partners took part in a visit to their facilities and were shown a lab scale demonstration of the recycling process of WHEYLAYER multilayer films. |
On 11 October 2011, a major demonstration session was celebrated in Ljubljana for over 70 Slovene and International attendees. It was hosted by the Slovenian Plasttechnics Cluster
and the company Lajovic TUBA . After a welcoming word from Mrs. Alenka Avbersek from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, the WHEYLAYER consortium gave an overview of the project, the key developments regarding the WHEYLAYER material and process and the massive reduction of the packaging environmental impact. Prof. Mona Popa concluded with a thorough review of recent innovations in terms of sustainable packaging. Participants finally had the opportunity to attend a practical demonstration of the WHEYLAYER prototype coating machine and samples, as well as to visit the factory of the company Lajovic TUBA to get familiar with tube making. The industry showed a keen interest in getting involved in the supply chain, manufacturing or use of the new WHEYLAYER bioplastic to turn their packaging greener. The consortium would like to direct a warm acknowledgement to all attendees for their valuable feedback and reassess that avenues for future collaboration will be studied.
